The purpose of this survey is to identify the most appropriate way to finance improvements for these two public safety needs: Public Safety Radio System: The City’s emergency radio system, which serves all of Lancaster County, is reaching the end of its useful life and support from the manufacturer is ending. The replacement cost is projected to be about $24 million, and the City's share of that cost would be about $20.5 million. Fire Station Relocation: Relocating two current stations and building two new stations would bring 66% of the addresses currently outside the target four minute travel time for emergency responders into the desired range. This would allow faster response to both fires and medical emergencies that are not fire-related. One of the four stations would be a joint fire/police facility in southeast Lincoln. The entire project would cost about $14 million.
